Become a member and have your say about RCT Homes
More than 800 tenants have already shown that they want to have a say about their homes and neighbourhoods by become members of RCT Homes. It is expected that hundreds more tenants will become members as we lead up to the first elections to the RCT Homes Board and Members’ Forum in June 2009.
RCT Homes is a special type of organisation – a ‘community mutual’ – which means that tenants can get involved in decisions about their homes, their neighbourhoods and the services that RCT Homes provides.
Becoming a member of RCT Homes doesn’t cost anything – all you have to do is fill in this simple form:

You can choose how involved you want to be in decision-making. Many tenants simply want to be consulted about RCT Homes’ work so that they can make sure that we do the right things for you and your neighbours. Other tenants want to be more actively involved by attending meetings to vote on key decisions and to join together with other members to raise issues that they want RCT Homes to do something about.
Membership will also entitle tenants to:
- elect tenant board members and elect an RCT Homes Members’ Forum to represent members’ views and work in partnership with the RCT Homes Board.
- put yourselfup for election to the Members’ Forum or as a Tenant Board Member.
The process for electing the Members’ Forum will be structured to ensure that those elected are drawn from as wide a geographical area as possible and, to make sure fresh faces get a chance to have their say, every year some of the representatives will face an election;
- Attend Member events and vote on key decisions;
- Together with other members, put a motion to RCT Homes on a matter that is important to tenants;
- Help to shape and monitor RCT Homes’ policies, plans and services.
